In 1924, the Louis Cartier designed Trinity ring was born – for 100 years since, it has remained an icon of shared stories, love, and connection. Recognisable to one and all, not only for its symbolic value, but for its perennial style and design integrity, its interlocking yellow, white, and rose gold bands represent love, loyalty, and friendship.
Earlier this month, SIDE-NOTE travelled with guests and friends of Cartier to celebrate Trinity’s centenary in Singapore. Fifteen Australians from varying professional backgrounds honoured the Trinity legacy and contributed to its history of connection and community; sharing stories, visiting new places and understanding key milestones of its evolution. The centenary was documented at The Arts House, an historic building in Singapore’s Civic District, selected for its capacity to bring people together through art. The exhibition also featured thirty artworks from Imagine Infinite Circles, Cartier’s collaborative project of over 100 contributors, who were commissioned to create works inspired by the Trinity narrative. Among the exhibitors were Australian born, London based photographer Candice Lake, and Sydney Dance Company’s Artistic Director, Rafael Bonachella.
Crossing paths with actor Josh Heuston, Creative Director Yan Yan Chan and artist Amanda Shadforth, SIDE-NOTE sought memories, inspirations and influences in three. Just as the Trinity ring transcends time and space, so too do the stories of these three creatives, and their shared experiences in Singapore.
